Pre-congress visit 2: The Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion

Anotation:
The Institute of Haematology and Blood Transfusion (IHBT), established in 1952, is a leading research institution at the forefront of haematology. IHBT Biobank Prague is dedicated to the collection and long-term preservation of unique biological samples frompatients with hematopoietic disorders, as well as from healthy donors.
During the excursion, participants will have the opportunity to visit the central laboratory, where samples are received, processed, and aliquoted into cryotubes using advanced automated technologies. The tour will also include the IHBT cryostorage facility,featuring state-of-the-art robotic systems that ensure the secure storage of cryopreserved samples in liquid nitrogen vapor.
Additionally, participants will be introduced to the Department of Cell Therapy, which maintains hematopoietic stem cell grafts for both autologous and allogeneic transplantations. This highlights the critical role of the facility in modern regenerative andtransplant medicine.
