EBW26 Live: Industry & academic co-creation towards personalised medicine in light of global challenges
Wednesday’s scientific programme included the podium discussion ‘Industry & academic co-creation towards personalised medicine in light of global challenges’. Panel speakers came together to discuss the importance of open dialogue, flexibility, honest feedback and transparency at a time when there is a lot of uncertainty.
The podium discussion was led by Prof. Jens K. Habermann (BBMRI-ERIC) and Dipl.-Ing. Roland Leiminger (ESBB) and featured:
- Tobias Hässner, Marketing and Sales Manager, LVL technologies
- Michael Tolkachov, Business Development Manager, Resonant Clinical Solution
- Stefan Chabierski, Head of Sales, Marketing and Business Development, CMO, ASKION GmbH
- Daniele Pericolini, Automation Solutions Specialist, Qingdao Haier Biomedical Co., Ltd.
- Kathi Shea – Azenta Life Sciences
- Claudia Ottardi, Product Manager Cryobiology, SOL Group
A key message was that co-creation requires both academia and industry at the table. Industry partners stressed that understanding needs must come from both sides, with early communication and clear expectations.
Speakers highlighted current global challenges as major factors that need to be considered including rising energy and transport costs, tariffs, supply chain delays and unpredictable pricing.
Participants agreed that openness and communication can reduce risk. Being realistic about delivery times, costs and limitations was seen as essential. Flexibility and honesty were emphasised as key to maintaining trust.
On preparedness, speakers reflected that lessons from the pandemic have improved collaboration but crisis response still depends on strong partnerships and fast communication.
The discussion ended with a shared call to keep communication open between industry, academia, policymakers and end users.
