ESBB and BBMRI-ERIC are delighted to be holding the 2027 Congress at the SwissTech Convention Center, on the EPFL campus in Lausanne, Switzerland, hosted by Swiss Biobanking, the Swiss node of BBMRI-ERIC.

Nestled on the shores of Lake Geneva and at the heart of one of Europe’s most dynamic research ecosystems, Lausanne will offer an inspiring setting where science, innovation, collaboration, and culture come together.

As the Olympic Capital, Lausanne is home to the International Olympic Committee, and its Gothic cathedral overlooks a historic centre just minutes from the lake. The terraced vineyards of Lavaux, a UNESCO World Heritage site, lie just outside the city, while EPFL, the University of Lausanne and the Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) are all within a few kilometres of each other.

Conference Venue

The SwissTech Convention Center, opened in 2014 on the EPFL campus, is one of Switzerland’s leading congress venues. Its modular main auditorium can be reconfigured to host up to 3,000 participants, and its façade of coloured solar glass, developed at EPFL, makes it a landmark of sustainable architecture. The venue sits directly next to the EPFL metro station, a few minutes from Lausanne city centre.

Getting There

🚆 By Rail

Arrive at Lausanne railway station, served by direct trains from Geneva, Zurich, Bern and international connections such as the TGV Lyria from Paris.

✈️ By Air

Geneva Airport (GVA) is the closest international airport, with direct trains to Lausanne from the airport station (about 45 minutes).
Zurich Airport (ZRH) is connected to Lausanne by direct train (about 2.5 hours).

Getting to the SwissTech Convention Center

The SwissTech Convention Center is located on the EPFL campus, next to the EPFL stop of metro M1.

From Lausanne railway station: take metro M2 to Lausanne-Flon, then metro M1 towards Renens and get off at EPFL (about 20 minutes).
From Renens railway station: take metro M1 towards Lausanne-Flon and get off at EPFL (a few minutes).
From the city centre: metro M1 runs directly from Lausanne-Flon to EPFL (about 15 minutes).
