We are happy to announce that the Europe Biobank Week 2021 received a significant amount of abstracts already! And now we are welcoming late-breaking abstracts until the 1st of August.

“The role of Biobanks and Human Biomonitoring for Human Health – Its value for policy”.

Dr. Marike Kolossa-Gehring is biologist and toxicologist, Head of Section “Toxicology, Health related Environmental Monitoring” and coordinator of the European Joint Programme HBM4EU, a joint effort of 120 partners from 30 countries, the European Environment Agency and the European Commission. At UBA she is in charge of the German Federal Human Biomonitoring Program consisting of German Environmental Survey (GerES), the human samples of the German Environmental Specimen Bank (ESB), the Human Biomonitoring Commission, and the HBM cooperation between the German Chemical Industry Association (VCI) and the Federal Ministry for the Environment (BMU).

Dr. Marike Kolossa-Gehring was involved in developing assessment strategies/guidelines at national, EU and OECD level, vice-chair and chair of the OECD Endocrine Disruptor Testing and Assessment Task Force (2006 to 2010). She was Work Package Leader in the EU-HBM projects ESBIO, DEMOCOPHES/COPHES, Councillor of the International Society of Exposure Science (ISES) and is Advisory Board member of Fraunhofer IBMT.

At #EBW21, Dr. Marike Kolossa-Gehring will put the spotlight on the role of biobanks and human biomonitoring for human health and its value for policy.
